Hello!

Welcome to my website.

It’s mostly a blog, but I’m going to keep this post introducing myself (and my cats) stuck to the top of the page.

I’m Adam. I’m a first year undergraduate student at the University of Bristol studying for a Master’s in Mathematics and Computer Science. What little spare time I have is mostly spent singing with a variety of ensembles in the south west:

The Christmas Post

It’s been a little while since I wrote a post (or, I gave up pretty much as soon as I put this installation of WordPress on here) but it’s exam revision season so I’m procrastinating, and WordPress 5.0 came out recently so I want to get a bit of a feel for the new Gutenberg editor. So here comes a new post! Also, to get a feel for Gutenberg in a theme designed for it, I’ve switched over to the Twenty Nineteen theme. It’s also an excuse to reduce the content on the site somewhat so I don’t have to keep updating it.

Lots of updates are needed because quite a lot of things have changed. For one, I started university! I’m at Bristol now, which is…well, there are both positives and negatives!

A lovely positive is that I get to stay with my friends at St Mary Redcliffe choir, and since I live 10 minutes away from the church my commute has been cut down significantly. This is a very welcome change from using GWR services many times a week.

Singing has also been pretty good. Although I didn’t get into all the ensembles I had hoped to join, a few unexpected things have turned up in their place. One is being part of The Anchorae Scholars. The lovely Peter Relph wrote us a beautiful new piece called In a Dream.

In a dream as I lay, methought I heard a maiden say…

I’m excited also to be joining the Paragon Singers from January 2019, as their bass choral scholar. I’ve been exploring my baritone range a bit more so, whilst I’ll still be singing alto at St Mary Redcliffe, I’m embarking on an interesting adventure in the depths of my voice as well!

There’s plenty more that I’ve not mentioned, but I’m going to try to make a New Year’s Resolution to post a bit more about what I’ve been doing and what I’m going to be doing. For now, I’m off to the pub, so have a very Happy New Year!

Carmina Burana

On 10th March 2018, I’ll be singing Orff’s Carmina Burana alongside Chilcott’s Songs and Cries of London Town with the Bristol Choral Society.

For more information about the event, such as details of the professional musicians performing, visit the Bristol Choral Society website – or if you’re already convinced, you can head straight to the Colston Hall website to buy your tickets!

The prices are greatly reduced for anyone under 25, and I have some discount codes for orders of 5 or more tickets – get in touch with me if you’re interested and we’ll see if we can get a group of that size together.
